Members of the travel industry have released praise for Japan after the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, suggested that border restrictions will ease from next month.
According to sources, yesterday, Thursday the 5th of May, the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, met in London with the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and suggested that Japan will ease their border restrictions for international travellers.
After a cautious approach to travel and some small changes to ease restrictions, it was hinted by Kishida that these further border restrictions will be eased from June.
Fumio Kishida was reported as saying, “We have now eased border control measures significantly, with the next easing taking place in June, when Japan will introduce a smoother entry process similar to that of other G7 members.”
In response, some industry tour operators and Japan travel specialists have praised this good news from the Japanese Prime Minister. Many are already planning some exciting packages and promotional for this move.
Japan is an excellent and popular summer destination for many travellers, with Tokyo taking the spotlight for a huge portion of younger travellers, the ease of border restrictions could be a huge boost for summer travel this year, with many other excellent summer destinations already beginning to loosen restrictions as the summer holiday approaches.
Though there are not many details on this move yet, we expect another update closer to June and recommend keeping an eye on the Foreign Travel Advice page for any official updates to the border restrictions in Japan.
