Excellent news came out today as the New Zealand government announced the removal of all Covid-related testing and vaccination requirements for international travellers and returning residents alike.
This news comes out following the removal of the New Zealand traffic light system for travellers, this rule was removed on Monday the 12th of September, with these new relaxations coming into action the same week for all travellers, regardless of their vaccination status.
According to reports, visitors arriving in New Zealand from abroad will still continue to receive free antigen tests when they’re at the airport in New Zealand, they will also be encouraged to take tests on days one and five or six despite the removal of the mandatory testing rules.
Arrivals will still be required to complete a traveller declaration before they take their flight to New Zealand. People who test positive for Covid will then be required to self-isolate for seven days. It is also recommended by the country’s authorities that household contacts take an antigen test every day for five days, if they continue to test negative they can resume daily life.
The requirement for masks will also no longer be in place except for visitors to certain healthcare facilities such as hospitals, GPs, pharmacies, and aged care residential facilities. People may be asked to wear masks in other places, though this will not be mandatory from the government.
