In a recent announcement that came out last week, one of the top destinations for UK travellers, Portugal, has joined the plethora of countries to remove all Covid-related entry requirements for travellers.
From Friday the 1st of July, travellers have no longer been required to show proof of vaccination or take a Covid test in order to enter Portugal. These rules have been dropped for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers alike. This means travellers will not need to be vaccinated to enter Portugal restriction-free.
There are still Covid-related restrictions in place for all people in Portugal after entry, however. Face masks and coverings are still mandatory on public transport, in taxis, and when visiting care homes, nursing homes, and health facilities.
The authorities also still advise and recommend all people to continue social distancing and washing their hands frequently as a safety precaution.
All restrictions for travel to Portugal, Covid-related and otherwise, can be found in detail on the Foreign Travel Advice website and are updated regularly when restrictions change or are removed.
The official website for Visit Portugal has also been updated with this fantastic news. The site states, “As of July 1, 2022, passengers entering national territory are no longer required to present proof of carrying out a test to screen for SARS-CoV-2 infection with a negative result or to present a Covid digital certificate or vaccination or recovery certificate.”
