It was announced this week that Cyprus will remove the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) requirement for fully vaccinated visitors to the country this week.
After an announcement on Monday, the 18th of April and the subsequent updates to the Foreign Travel Advice page by the FCDO, several of Cyprus’s Covid restrictions have been removed including the much debated Passenger Locator Form that many destinations have been speculating around removing.
Cyprus has also dropped the CyprusFlightPass policy alongside their Covid country categorisation system. This system dictated the entry requirements for passengers based on their country of origin, or the country they departed from. This means that all travellers, irrelevant of origin, will follow the relaxed entry rules based on their vaccination or recovery status.
This means that fully vaccinated travellers, or those who have proof of a full recovery from Covid, can now enter Cyprus without the Passenger Locator Form, pre-departure tests, or quarantine requirements.
Unvaccinated travellers to Cyprus, or travellers who cannot provide evidence of recovery, will now only be required to provide evidence of a negative pre-departure test. This must either be a PCR test taken within 72 hours pre-departure, or an antigen test taken within 24 hours pre-departure.
Children under the age of 12 will not need to test. Any travellers aged 12 or over that are unvaccinated or can’t give proof of recovery will not be able to use self-administered tests as their pre-departure test, simply meaning that their test must be supervised.
Some travellers may also be asked to do a test on arrival, the Foreign Office stated, the refusal to do this test will require the traveller to quarantine in Cyprus at their own expense.
The Cyprus Ministry of Tourism said, “From April 18, 2022, Cyprus no longer requires the completion of passenger locator forms for entry into the country.
“Moreover, it removes country-categorisation and most travel-related Covid protocols.”
The requirement for face coverings in public outdoor spaces has also been removed. People will still be required to wear face coverings in public indoor spaces if they are aged 6 and over.
It is fantastic news to see Cyprus joining the many fabulous destinations that are dropping or relaxing their Covid entry requirements, especially with the removal of the Passenger Locator Form requirement, travel will be simpler and more stress-free.
