It has been announced that Singapore will relax rules on testing and quarantine from next month, with their Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme being removed at the same time.

From Friday the 1st of April, fully vaccinated arrivals in Singapore will no longer be required to quarantine or test upon arrival. They will only be required to take a pre-departure test up to 48 hours before travel. This can be a PCR or antigen test, but antigen tests must be supervised.

As Singapore will relax rules on testing for vaccinated travellers, the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme will also be abolished from the same date. Any flights already booked for after April 1st under this scheme will still go ahead as planned, however, the multiple tests currently required for these flights will no longer be necessary.

It was also revealed that short-term visitors to Singapore will no longer need a vaccinated travel pass, only proof of vaccination.

All travellers who are passing through Singapore to another destination will also be free of requirements as long as they meet the requirements for their destination, regardless of vaccination status.

You can check out the requirements for your chosen destination on the Foreign Travel Advice page if you’re passing through Singapore or travelling directly.

Singapore authorities said, “Singapore is taking a major step forward to restore air connectivity to the world, to rebuild and reclaim Singapore’s position as a premier air hub.”

Government authorities from Singapore added, “The airport community is gearing up for higher traffic volumes to ensure smooth and good traveller experience.

“In line with making travel more seamless and convenient for travellers, airport operations will also be streamlined and adjusted.

“Even as we transition to the new Vaccinated Travel Framework, we will preserve our capacity and capabilities to respond quickly if the Covid-19 situation changes and stand ready to adjust our border measures with the appropriate safeguards to ensure public health.”

The Singapore tourism board was also thrilled to see this news, “The latest easing of travel restrictions is a really positive step towards Singapore’s tourism recovery.

“As the entry process into Singapore becomes even more seamless, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from the UK to safely enjoy reimagined experiences; be it our world class foodie scene, the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix or sharing in the excitement of Gardens by the Bay’s 10th anniversary this year.”
