Barbados Ease Travel Rules For Unvaccinated Visitors

In an announcement this week, Barbados officials have confirmed the recent ease in Covid-related travel rules for all unvaccinated travellers to the island.  

Coming into effect on Saturday the 20th of August, Barbados confirmed this week that restrictions involving quarantine and testing on arrival for travellers who are not approved as fully vaccinated or are unvaccinated have been removed for travellers from around the world.  

These rules were confirmed and updated on the FCDO Foreign Travel Advice page just earlier this week. According to these new and relaxed rules for Barbados, unvaccinated travellers and travellers who are not fully vaccinated will be able to enter Barbados with just a negative pre-departure test as their key to the island.  

If the traveller chooses to take a PCR test for their pre-departure testing, this must be taken within 72 hours prior to their arrival in Barbados. If the traveller chooses to take an antigen test, this must be taken within 24 hours prior to their arrival.  

The FCDO updated their advice and stated, “From 20 August, unvaccinated arrivals are no longer required to quarantine or to take a test on arrival.” 

“Once you have completed a health check and your documentation (pre-arrival test) has been validated, you will be free to move around Barbados unhindered.” 

This news was also confirmed and updated on the Visit Barbados website’s protocol guidance. However, this guidance also informs travellers that fully vaccinated adults that travel to Barbados as a couple or a group with travellers who are not fully vaccinated will be subject to the same rules as those travellers who are not fully vaccinated.  

“If a fully vaccinated adult traveller is travelling with an unvaccinated adult traveller, 18 years and older, and they choose not to be separated, then the rules applied to the unvaccinated traveller will also apply to the fully vaccinated traveller,” the guidance read.
