With the second half of 2021 well on its way, we’re all looking forward to some exciting notes of progress to come. In travel, one of these is coming soon, when Canada will be open to travel on September 7th, as long as the visitors are fully vaccinated

Canada is perhaps one of the most beloved destinations around the world, and for good reason. With Toronto being voted the second-best city to visit, and a reputation for being one of the most accepting nations, Canada is going to be a top destination for double vaccinated travellers, and such a wonderful addition to the places we can soon visit as the world opens again.

Currently, Canada is on the UK’s amber list. This means that if you’re double vaccinated, you can return from Canada without being required to quarantine for 10 days. On the 7th of September, this rule will also apply in the other direction.

Whether it’s the people or the expanse of natural beauty Canada has to offer, Canada is a place that we highly recommend everyone visits at least once in their life. Its city culture alone is spectacular, with modern, popular cities like Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. But all Canadian cities, so different from each other, are embedded with their history, gorgeous landscape, and excellent culture.

And now, taking a trip to see some of these wonderful things is due to become possible again with Canada open to travel on September 7th. The requirements set for September 7th are fairly simple from both ends, though we always encourage consumers to keep an eye on restrictions and requirements themselves, whether you’ve already booked, are about to travel, or haven’t even started booking yet but are just thinking about it.

At present, the restrictions for double vaccinated UK travellers returning from Canada follow the green list requirements. You can find out more about quarantine-free travel for vaccinated consumers to amber destinations on our blog, but the basics are as follows:

  • A pre-departure lateral flow test no more than 72 hours before returning to the UK
  • A PCR test on or before day 2 of arrival back in the UK

Requirements for entering Canada for double vaccinated travellers are also fairly similar. If you plan to travel to Canada after the 7th of September, you just need to provide proof of complete vaccination and a negative PCR result. If you are an international student, or family to a permanent Canadian resident, you can also enter Canada with proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before your flight. You can find out more about Canada’s requirements and see their updates on the Public Health Agency of Canada website, or check for updates on the Canadian Tourism Board.

There are so many fantastic reasons to visit Canada when September comes, especially with the changing of the colours hitting around the same time, it’s going to be transformed into an autumn paradise.

And the natural beauty is a big part of that. With so much of Canada untouched, it’s such an expansive country of wildlife and nature to explore. Next to the modern cities, it makes it a destination that is perfect for any kind of traveller. Whether you want to soak in the centre of the community, or you want to set out and see nature at its finest, Canada is for you.

Whether it’s the outdoor activities, the fabulous events that take place in Canada like the Quebec Winter Carnival, the year-round charm, or the history, culture, and diversity, it’s clear we’re excited for Canada to be a possibility again. This is such a wonderful destination everybody should see and seeing such well-loved spots like Canada opening to the world again is a great sign for the next few years.
