Over the weekend the news came out that Ireland travel restrictions will be completely removed for all travellers.
It was announced by the Irish Government that the Ireland travel restrictions would all be removed for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers alike from Sunday the 6th of March.
This means that the only restrictions in place will be for those entering Northern Ireland from overseas who will need to follow the UK travel restrictions, which are minimal but not entirely removed.
“From Sunday 6 March 2022, travellers to Ireland are not required to show proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or a negative PCR test result upon arrival,” the Irish Government stated.
“There are no post-arrival testing or quarantine requirements for travellers to Ireland.
“Any individual that develops COVID-19 symptoms while in Ireland should follow the Health Service Executive guidance in relation to isolation and undertaking antigen or PCR testing as appropriate.
“From Sunday 6 March 2022, travellers to Ireland are no longer asked to complete a Covid-19 Passenger Locator Form.
“Travel carriers will not ask to check a PLF receipt prior to travel to Ireland.”
The Ireland travel restrictions will no longer include tests, isolation, quarantine, or even Passenger Locator Forms (PLF) which is a huge step for travellers in 2022.
The removal of PLFs specifically has been widely celebrated in this announcement as the UK is anticipating and encouraging the removal of PLFs for arrivals in the UK, something that has been hinted at happening in time for Easter.
As always, we highly recommend keeping up to date on further destination requirements and details on the Foreign Travel Advice page as we all look forward to the potential for other countries to follow suit in these vanquished travel restrictions. Ireland travel restrictions being removed in fantastic news, and we are excited to see what travel has to come next in 2022.
