Mauritius Entry Rules Change From Next Month

Many island explorers and travel businesses are excited as the news has come out that the Mauritius entry rules will officially be reduced and changed from the beginning of next month (July). 

After an official announcement, travellers will now be able to travel to Mauritius with entry rules that are far simpler and easier to manage. From Friday the 1st of July, Mauritius entry rules will no longer include Covid testing on arrival. This applies to vaccinated and non-vaccinated travellers alike.  

The Mauritius entry rules will also no longer include a quarantine rule for unvaccinated travellers, and the rule for all travellers to wear face masks or coverings around the hotel on the same day as quarantine. Face coverings and masks will, however, still be required in public areas like hospitals, airports, and public transport, unless a traveller is exempt (travellers can find out more about what requirements do and don’t apply to them on the Foreign Travel Advice page). 

Previous to the change in Mauritius entry rules, all vaccinated travellers were required to take lateral flow tests upon arrival at their accommodation in Mauritius. Travellers who weren’t fully vaccinated were also required to self-isolate for 7 days in their hotel, followed by taking a lateral flow test at the end of the 7 days. 

The Mauritian government stated that the change in entry rules from the 1st of July was decided upon because of the country’s “successful vaccination campaign and resultant low infection rate”. 

Arvind Bundhun, the director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, commented on the move and said, “I am confident our post-pandemic recovery is well underway and with the easing of measures, bookings for the second half of 2022 will be stimulated.”
