Following their announcement in February, The Netherlands will remove testing for all UK travellers after another announcement today, Tuesday the 22nd of March.
From tomorrow, Wednesday the 23rd of March, The Netherlands will remove testing per this announcement. This will apply to all UK arrivals following this date, regardless of their vaccination status.
Previously, all vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers to The Netherlands had to provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken up to 48 hours pre-departure, or evidence of a negative antigen test taken up to 24 hours pre-departure. From the 23rd of March, these tests will no longer be a requirement for entry.
Though officials in The Netherlands recommend self-testing on entry for UK travellers, they have stressed that it is not a requirement.
This news that The Netherlands will remove testing follows a recent update on the 25th of February stating that quarantine is no longer necessary for UK visitors. The relaxation of these restrictions in this period is optimistic news, coming just in time for a boost to easter breaks in beloved places such as Amsterdam.
The FCDO updated the Foreign Travel Advice page with this advice today following the news. The update read, “From 23 March, all travellers from the UK to the Netherlands will not require a negative pre-departure test for travel, regardless of their vaccination status.”
The Netherlands will also remove the requirement for face masks on public transport, as well as in taxis, coaches, and on ferries. It won’t be necessary to test before entering nightclubs or big events from the 23rd of March either.
