Following the many updates from Spain that have been coming over the past few weeks, it has been confirmed by the authorities that Spain has extended its Covid entry restrictions for travellers once again.

This consists of an extension of the vaccination rules currently in place for all travellers, alongside the testing rules for travellers who are unvaccinated or are not fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine programme. These rules were originally put in place temporarily and have now been extended until the middle of November.

The UK tourist office for Spain confirmed this extension on Friday the 16th of September and this extension is expected to be updated for travellers on the Foreign Travel Advice page shortly following the update.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior that was published in the official Spanish Gazette BOE, these current entry restrictions will remain in place until the 15th of November, following this update.

In short, this means that travellers who are not vaccinated or are not fully vaccinated will still be required to give evidence of a negative Covid test in order to enter Spain. Alternatively, they will need to provide evidence of having recently recovered from Covid.

Those under the age of 12 are exempt from these restrictions as they have been previously, including being exempt from the required completion of Spain’s travel health control form. Those who can give evidence of being fully vaccinated and those who have recovered from Covid in the six months prior to travel will also be exempt from completing the form. All other travellers will be required to complete this form within 48 hours pre-departure.
