A popular winter destination, Thailand will be allowing vaccinated UK travellers in from the 1st of November. This is great news for the coming months after the recent restriction lifts for UK travellers.
After the UK government announced 47 countries coming off the red list last week, and a massive 83 countries and territories had the FCDO advice removed, seeing the rest of the world beginning to open up to UK travellers in return is awesome to see.
Currently, all UK visitors travelling into Thailand must quarantine for 14 days on arrival. On the 1st of November, this will be removed in favour of some testing requirements. Vaccinated UK travellers will be required to provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure, and then will take another PCR test upon arrival.
In this way the prime minister, Prayuth Chan-ocha, announced Thailand’s plans to ease their restrictions on a month-to-month basis.
He said, “Initially, we will begin with at least ten countries on our low-risk, no-quarantine list, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Germany, China, and the United States of America, and enlarge that list by 1 December, and, by 1 January move to a very extensive list.
“During the last weeks some of Thailand’s most important tourist source countries have begun to ease their travel restrictions on their citizens – countries like the UK, that now allow convenient travel to our country, as well as countries like Singapore and Australia that have started to ease travel restrictions on their citizens visiting other countries.
“With these developments, we must act quickly but still cautiously, and not miss the opportunity to entice some of the year-end and new year holiday season travellers during the next few months to support the many millions of people who earn a living from our tourism, travel and entertainment sectors as well as the many other related sectors.”
Other destinations beginning to open their doors to vaccinated Brits have slightly different restrictions (you can check entry requirements for your destination on the Foreign Travel Advice page) which has some extra forms and arrival requirements to be aware of.
However, many in travel are excited to see Thailand possibly leading the way for more destinations to open up to UK travellers in the near future as we approach November.
